The oldest son of the famous La Familia Valera Miranda septet, Kiki is considered by many to be Cuba's greatest living cuatro player. He is also a highly sought-after multi-instrumentalist (tres, guitar, bass, keyboards & percussion), composer, arranger, sound engineer & producer.
Kiki picked up the Cuban tres under the guidance of his father Felix when he was a child, and later attended one of the most prestigious music schools in Cuba, the Conservatorio Esteban Salas in Santiago de Cuba. By age 15 Kiki was touring internationally.
During his years as an electronic engineering student, Kiki co-founded the Cuban group Septeto Turquino. In the early 90's, he played cuatro and keyboards in the popular salsa group Los Karachi. By the mid-90’s, Kiki was busy recording and touring with La Familia Valera Miranda across Europe & the rest of the world.
Kiki continues to direct, compose, arrange and perform internationally with La Familia Valera Miranda. He also performs and teaches in Seattle where he contributes to the vibrant music scene in the Pacific Northwest with a variety of ensembles.
For this performance, Kiki will be joined by an all-star lineup of talented musicians including Joshua de Jesus on vocals & congas, Alfredo Polier on vocals & maracas, Javier Maru on guitar, Steve Guasch on bongos & Dean Schmidt on bass.
